Texas Makeup Artist Education and Diploma
Texas Master Makeup Artist requirements depend on how you want to practice. There are three possible education paths you can take to become a Makeup Artist in Texas.
- Master Makeup Artist
- Cosmetology (hair, nails, skincare and makeup)
- Esthetics (skincare and makeup)
Master Makeup Artist
Officially, there is no specific Makeup Artist License in Texas, and you do not need one to become one. So, if your business is limited only to facial makeup, you can start your career without a license, however most salons, boutiques, studios, contractors and other beauty employers typically look for dedicated education such as a makeup mastery course in an accredited beauty school.

Cosmetology Diploma
Texas does require you to be licensed Cosmetologists if you would like to cut, color, treat, style hair, perform nail technician services, skincare services and apply makeup as part of their profession.
Texas requires 1000 clock hours of study in an accredited cosmetology school along with a written and practical (hands-on) exam to earn your cosmetology license.

Esthetics Diploma
Estheticians specialize and focus is in skincare and skin treatments, which includes basic facial makeup. Estheticians can perform waxing, chemical facials, and basic makeup application.
Texas requires 750 clock hours of study in an accredited cosmetology school with a written and practical exam to become a licensed esthetician.
Manicurist Diploma
You might also want to pair makeup artistry with manicures. If so, you will need 600 hours of study to earn your manicurist diploma.

How to Earn Your Diploma and Become a Master Makeup Artist in Texas
Begin by enrolling in an accredited beauty school such as Tint school of makeup and cosmetology. You can then complete one of three coursework options that will set you on the path to becoming a makeup artist in Texas:
- Cosmetology raining: 1000 hours
- Esthetician Training: 750 Hours
- Master Makeup Artist: 720 Hours
To get your Texas License as a Cosmetologist, Esthetician, or Manicurist, you will complete the required clock hours at approved school like Tint school of makeup & cosmetology, schedule and pass the Texas Department of License & Regulations written & practical exam.
To get your Texas Diploma as a Master Makeup Artist, you will be required to complete 720 Clock Hours at Tint school of makeup & cosmetology, Pass all Written and Practical Exams.
