Level 1: The Building Blocks

Brushes, tools + terminology

What’s the difference between a buffing brush and a stippling brush—and when does it actually matter? You’ll learn how to choose the right tools for different products, how to keep your kit sanitary (and client-safe), and how to talk about technique with clarity and confidence.

Foundation, concealer + powder

Liquid, crème, or powder? Do you really need a primer—or a setting powder? When should you layer, and when is it better to stop? You’ll get clear answers to all of it. Learn how to match undertones, correct discoloration, and manage texture to absolute perfection. Then practice building a base that lasts for hours and works across different skin types, without ever looking heavy or flat.

Face shapes + corrective techniques

No face is perfectly symmetrical. In this module, you’ll train your eye to work with bone structure, face shapes, and asymmetry. Learn how to adjust placement based on facial proportions, visually balance different features, and handle common challenges like hooded eyes, uneven lips, or imbalanced cheekbones—things that come up all the time in real client work.

Highlight + contour

This goes way beyond the Instagram version. You’ll learn strategic sculpting techniques that bring forward or push back specific features—tailored to the face shape and the context, whether it’s film, stage, or everyday wear. You’ll experiment with placement, depth, and product types to create definition that reads in person, on camera, and under lights.

Eyebrows

Brows frame the face—and reshaping or correcting them can transform the whole look. You’ll study hair growth patterns, proper tweezing technique, and how to map, trim, tint, and style brows for different ages, face shapes, and natural brow types.

Eyes

This is all about precision and adaptability. Learn how to shape and fill brows, apply lashes, and blend shadow across different eye shapes. From classic socket blends to smoky eyes, graphic liner to trend-forward looks, you’ll build skills that hold up under pressure. We’ll also cover waterproofing, long-wear techniques, and product placement for every type of brief.

Cheeks + lips

Crème or powder blush? A show stopping classic red lip or the perfect nude pout? You’ll learn how to read the face holistically and use cheek and lip placement to enhance structure—not just add color. That means creating clean, symmetrical lip shapes, correcting undertone clashes, and working around fine lines or asymmetry. When done right, a strong cheek or lip can carry an entire look.

Color theory

Color matching isn’t guesswork. This module covers the real-world side of color theory: neutralizing discoloration, correcting shadows, and making quick, confident decisions under pressure. You’ll train your eye to spot what needs balancing—and know exactly how to do it with speed and precision.

Multicultural skin tones

One undertone chart won’t cut it here. You’ll learn to work across a wide range of melanin levels, pigment patterns, and undertone combinations—avoiding common pitfalls like ashiness, dullness, or bad foundation matches. This is where everything you’ve learned comes together: problem-solving in real time, tightening your technique, and building consistency across faces. Mix your foundations for that perfect match that does not come bottle ready!!

Hair styling

Round out your makeup skills with foundational hairstyling techniques that come in handy on set, backstage, or in the bridal suite. This module covers proper prep, blow drying, flat ironing, classic updos, finger waves, pin curls, and roller sets. Because the more skills you bring to the table, the more doors open… and a versatile artist is a booked artist!

Level 2: Art of Makeup

Period makeup (1-week duration)

Each era had its own glamorous makeup rules—and reasons. Recreate looks from the 1920s, 1940s, 1960s, and 1980s, understanding how style, materials, and social trends shaped the aesthetics. Bonus: how to modernize them without losing their character.

Weddings & bridal (2-week duration)

One of the most in-demand—and high-paying—paths for makeup artists. This course teaches you how to create timeless, camera-ready looks for brides, bridal parties, and mature skin. You’ll cover natural, classic, modern, and boho styles while learning how to manage everything from the first consultation to the day-of chaos (yes, even when sharing a bathroom with six bridesmaids and a flower girl on a sugar crash). We’ll also cover contracts, trial etiquette, and how to run a calm, professional bridal business—without losing your cool or your kit.

Concludes with a professional portfolio-building photoshoot.

Photography (1-week duration)

Makeup for photography is its own art form. Learn how to adjust for lighting setups, camera lenses, and angles that can distort or flatten a look. We’ll cover everything from HD-ready skin to avoiding flashback, with hands-on practice in editorial grooming, themed shoots, accessory ads, lifestyle beauty, headshots, and more. You’ll also get a crash course in on-set etiquette, photography lingo, and how to collaborate with photographers, stylists, and art directors for flawless results.

Concludes with a professional portfolio-building photoshoot.

Backstage pass (1-week duration)

No retakes. No do-overs. This course throws you into the fast-paced world of runway and stage. Practice creating high-impact looks under time pressure, staying sharp through last-minute changes, and translating designer briefs into showstopping results. Learn how to work smoothly with fashion designers, stage managers, and production teams—whether the look calls for couture drama or barely-there polish. This is high-stakes artistry, and you’ll come out with the skills to match.

Concludes with a professional portfolio-building photoshoot.

Stage & character (1-week duration)

When the audience is 50 feet away, precision won’t cut it—you need exaggeration that reads under stage lights and through sweat, movement, and long wear-times. This module focuses on character-driven makeup for live performance, from contouring that holds up under heat to bold, expressive features that bring roles to life. Whether you’re designing a villain’s brow or aging a teen into a grandmother, this is about makeup that tells a story—and holds its own in the spotlight.

Concludes with a professional portfolio-building photoshoot.

Airbrush (2-week duration)

When time is tight and skin needs to look perfect, airbrush delivers. In this two-week course, you’ll learn how to set up, clean, and control your machine like a pro—whether you’re using alcohol-, silicone-, or water-based formulas. We’ll cover top feed vs. bottom feed guns, applying base, blush, and highlight, and deciding when airbrush beats traditional techniques. From bridal to full-body paint, you’ll build skill and speed without sacrificing softness or staying power.

Concludes with a professional portfolio-building photoshoot.

Special effects (4-week duration)

This course is about making people do a double take. You’ll learn to create believable trauma, illness, injury, aging, and prosthetic transformations using waxes, paints, bald caps, and more. Think bullet wounds, frostbite, liver spots, blackout bruises, receding hairlines, beards, fresh stitches—or the exact shade of blood to match a second act plot twist. You’ll practice layering, color theory, and the art of keeping chaos clean. Big ideas. Bigger impact. Built to last under lights and pressure.

Concludes with a professional portfolio-building photoshoot.

HD digital media (2-week duration)

This is where artistry meets screen. You’ll learn to prep skin, choose the right products, and apply makeup that reads beautifully under HD cameras and lighting. We’ll place you in mock studio settings—newscasts, cosmetic ads, soap opera scenes—so you can see your work through the lens and adjust accordingly. Expect to work fast, blend flawlessly, and understand how small details (like shimmer or powder) behave under harsh light and high resolution.

Career Coaching

Makeup skills are only half the job. In this final module, we’ll help you launch your professional presence—website, social media, branding, client experience, and rates included. You’ll build confidence navigating interviews, managing bookings, and showcasing your work with intention. The course wraps with a headshot project and editorial thesis presentation, giving you the tools—and portfolio—you need to step into the industry with direction and clarity.

Curriculum Overview

Bridal makeup isn’t just about soft glam and long lashes. It’s about timing, communication, and staying cool when the schedule’s off and the nerves are high. In this intensive two-week course, you’ll learn how to run consultations, manage trials, and design looks that last through tears, heat, and 10-hour dance floors.

You’ll create everything from timeless to modern styles, working with mature and youthful skin, and building palettes for everyone from flower girls to mother-of-the-bride. You’ll also cover (or create) tattoos and learn how to pull together cohesive looks for full bridal parties—while backing it all up with smart, fair business practices and contracts that protect you and your clients.

This course ends with a professional portfolio shoot—so you leave with work that speaks for itself.

Curriculum Overview

This four-week course is for artists who want to push past beauty makeup and into transformation. You’ll learn how to build bruises, break skin for a cut or bullet wound, make them bleed, fake an illness, age a face, make them ugly or hairy, and apply prosthetics that hold up under scrutiny—whether it’s HD film, stage lights, or a last-minute director request.

We’ll cover bald caps, face taping, color realism, and flawless blending between skin and FX materials. You’ll practice layering techniques that create texture without looking overbuilt—and get fast, clean, and intentional with every move.

Whether you’re creating background detail or full-character effects, the goal is the same: shockingly believable results that hold up in close-up. The most exciting part? The course wraps with a professional photoshoot and a portfolio piece that shows you know what you’re doing.

Curriculum Overview

This two-week intensive is all about mastering the airbrush, from setup and product choice to pressure control and precision technique. You’ll learn how to manage flow, distance, and application speed to create even, seamless coverage without buildup or texture drag.

We’ll cover everything from airbrushed foundation, blush, and highlight to undertone matching and camouflage work using minimal product. You’ll compare top vs. bottom feed machines, explore alcohol-, water-, and silicone-based formulas, and learn when to use what for best results.

Tool hygiene and maintenance are also a must—because a jammed gun in the middle of bridal prep or a shoot isn’t an option. Whether you’re creating flawless skin for HD or need staying power that lasts through vows and dance floors, this course gives you the speed and finesse that airbrush artistry demands.

This course ends with a professional shoot to give you studio-quality imagery of your best work, ready to impress potential clients and employers.
